- Fluency in oral and written English is required, preferably at B2-C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Ideally students should be famialir with discourse studies and text analysis.

Course objectives
The course is an introduction to English for Special Purposes (ESP) from a multimodal perspective. Texts related to cultural heritage and the tourism will be examined in their multimodal characteristics, to describe and create professional texts.

- recognize the different communicative contexts in the field of tourism and evaluate them in their discursive aspects
- show a metacognitive understanding of ESP and be able to evaluate their own learning experience

Learning assessment methods
In-class activities (discussion, quiz) and a short essay or comment to a case study to be submitted 10 days before the exam date on Moodle.
The final essay will be evaluated on the basis of clarity of answers, mastery of terminology related to the course, ability to summarize, evaluate, and establish relationships among topics. A template with guidelines and a list of topics will be provided on Moodle
Marks are awarded for individual assessment and declare the level of achievement and the grades of performance and satisfactory or unsatisfactory completion of course objectives:
- (28-30 e lode): Excellent or Outstanding
- (25-27): Good or Above Average
- (21-24): Satisfactory or Average
- (18-20): Below Average or Poor
< 18: Failed
