Course objectives

Teaching is directed to provide the skills needed to address historical and methodological issues  of Art History in the modern and contemporary age, but particularly to provide general informations on how to organize an art exhibition: the birth of the project, the role of the chief curators, the role of the museums hosting and organizing the initiative, the role of other people involved (general secretary and curatorial assistants, press office, sponsors and marketing office, installer architect)

By the end of the course it is necessary to have acquired knowledge and confidence on modern art exhibitions in the making, demonstrating an understanding of the problems related to their staging and promotion.

By the end of the course it is necessary to have acquired knowledge of the main contemporary art exhibitions, demonstrating an understanding of the problems related to their staging and promotion in the territory.

TEACHING MODULE 1 (Alessandro Morandotti)

Course of 24 hours (4 CFU), with slides and discussion in classroom. Visits to Ceruti’s exhibition in Brescia and meetings with professionial persons that worked at the general organization of the exhibition are scheduled.

The lessons are held in the presence. Teaching activity may be subject to change due to the limitations imposed by the health crisis.

Students that can't attend to the lessons in the presence will be in contact with the teachers for any helpful assistance. On the platform Moodle will be at disposal didactic instruments and students can plan colloquia on platform webex contacting the teacher.

Learning assessment methods

TEACHING MODULE 1 (Alessandro Morandotti)

As crucial part of the exam, the student will give a personal written presentation of the experience (800-1000 words nearly). In the oral part of exam, the student must answer to some questions related to the bibliography for the exam.

 

TEACHING MODULE 2 (Fabio Belloni)

As crucial part of the exam, the student will give a personal written presentation of the experience (1000 words nearly). In the oral part of exam, the student must answer to some questions related to the bibliography for the exam.
